A popular southern wedding tradition, especially around New Orleans, is the Cake Pull, or , Ribbon Pull. The Cake Pull comes from the old tradition of “ribbon pulling.” In the Victorian days, charms of luck and good fortune were hidden in the wedding cake by the bride for her single friends. Each cake pull charm has a special meaning, and, is usually read at the time of the Cake Pull. With our modern cake pulls, cake bakers place silver charms, that have special meanings, inside the bottom layer of the cake and all the single ladies pull a charm from the cake ( the ceremony is sometimes called the Ribbon Pull) before the cake is cut.

You have your color of ribbon, or, hand cut lace. Use the drop down menu to select the ribbon, or hand cut lace, that goes best with your wedding style.

The Cake Pull tradition does not have to be with the wedding cake, In fact, a Cake Pull is fun just about anytime there are women together in one place. The Cake Pull is especially fun at the bridesmaids luncheon, or, a wedding shower. Just have fun! A Cake Pull is fun anytime.
Although the Cake Pull is popular in New Orleans, it is also gaining in popularity all over the United States. Some folks call the cake that the charms are in a Charm Cake. And, although it is popular for the women to be single, nowadays, women, married or not, pull charms from cakes all over the United State.

And, note, you do not have to have the charms baked in the cake, if you do not want to, they can simply be added to a cake that is already baked.

Each charm, in a has a specific and special meaning, and, if you purchase this listing, I will send you, in an email or etsy convo, in a list form, some suggested meanings for these twelve charms in this listing. You can read the meanings of each charm, as the girls (women) pull the charms from the cake.
