STEP TWO for the Mother of the Bride Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade Planning Advice by Hip New Orleans Second Line Handkerchiefs and Carla Buchanan

After you have finished step one, decided WHEN your Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade will be, go to STEP TWO.
STEP TWO: WHERE will your Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade be? With step two, WHERE, you want to give this step a little thought before you proceed. For example, if you decide that you want to have your Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade between your wedding venue, and your reception venue, then, chances are, you will be having your Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade down the streets of New Orleans, or, down the streets of your town.
Here is something to consider: If you decide to have your Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade down the streets of New Orleans, you MUST get a Parade Permit from the city of New Orleans. You MUST have police escorts as well.

I recommend hiring a second line parade coordinator for this, as, you really don't want to make any mistakes! There is a cost for the coordinator, but, it is worth it! If you want me to share my contact with you, you can text me at : 714-914-0381.

But, for those of you who want to research your Parade Permit yourself, you can start by going to the New Orleans Police Department, Special Events Division. You can call them: 504-658-6201, or email at wpowers@nola.gov. There is a cost for this permit.

So, there are other alternatives for WHERE your Hip New Orleans Second Line Parade will be. Some couples have the parade INSIDE the reception venue. You can have the parade inside your reception hall, and/or around your reception hall. So, if this is what you decide, I recommend that you check with your reception venue first.

I hope that this information helps! STEP THREE to come.

STEP ONE for the Mother of the Bride Second Line Parade Planning Advice by Hip New Orleans Second Line Handkerchiefs and Carla Buchanan

Congratulations on being the Mother of the Bride!
Planning a second line parade is a very exciting time for you, your daughter, your family, your future son-in-love, and his family.

After all, a second line parade usually is the link between the wedding, and the wedding celebration. The second line parade says, "Hooray! They are married, let's celebrate!"

Planning a second line parade is really very simple.

Step ONE:  Decide WHEN you want your parade: do you want your parade to begin as soon as the wedding is over and parade to the wedding reception venue? Or, do you want your second line parade to begin when the couple has finished taking their pictures? Or, do you want the second line parade to begin when the couple exits the reception and is on the way to their honeymoon? For mother's of the bride, my advice is this: decide when you want the second line parade to begin, and, then, ask the couple when they want the parade to begin. That way, the couple will know your feelings, and, it will help the couple to make a great decision. As, many time, the couple is already so overwhelmed with decisions that this small act, deciding WHEN the second line parade starts, really, really helps them. After you decide WHEN you want your parade to start, you can go to STEP TWO. Step two, will be in a future blog post, here, on this blog.
Love, Carla Buchanan

My Friend Sharon's Advice for Wedding Planning and Second Line Umbrella Decision Making, from Hip New Orleans Second Line Handkerchiefs

What type of Second Line Umbrella should you get for your New Orleans style or destination wedding? What type of Second Line Umbrella should you get for your New Orleans style theme or destination wedding?

It sure seems like there are so many choices and decisions to be made, doesn't it?

Yes,  it seems like there are so many decisions for your wedding, but, look at it this way: you already made the BEST decision with your groom. And, like my friend Sharon says:
"All you need for a wedding is a bride, a groom, and a preacher!" Sharon's advice will keep you laughing during your wedding planning!

For your umbrellas, if you are using the same last name after you get married, I LOVE this umbrella, as, it is the very fist time that you use your new initial last name initial as husband and wife.  I would suggest using the traditional white and black umbrellas, with your new initial initial. The reason is this: I want your friends and family to look at you, and your groom, not your umbrellas. Also, with the traditional colors, you can use your umbrellas for your anniversary parties, and , you can save them for your sons, when they get married, as, they, most likely, will have the same last name initial. You can start a tradition!
